A 16-year-old boy names Amaan Shakoor has been murdered in Walthamstow.

Amaan Shakoor had suffered a gunshot injury and died in hospital. His family were at the hospital when he sadly passed away.

An 18-year-old man from East London had been arrested. However, he had been released under investigation. Police were called to Markhouse Road, E17 when they heard reports of shots fired.

Two teenage boys, aged 15 and 16 were found injured and had been taken to East London hospital. However, the 15-year-old boy was treated for non-life threatening injuries and 16-year-old Amaan sadly died.

A post-mortem examination was held, and the cause of death was revealed to be gunshot injuries to the head.

The investigation was led by Detective Chief Inspector Gary Holmes of the Major Crime Command and Met’s Homicide.

DCI Gary Holmes said: “It is just over one week since Amaan Shakoor was brutally murdered. Somebody somewhere knows who committed this terrible crime and I would urge that person to come forward and share this information with us.

“This murder has left Amaan’s family completely devastated and desperate to understand why he was taken from them.

“If you know or even suspect who committed this murder then please help me to bring justice for Amaan’s family and make the community a safer place for other young people.”

The victim’s family are being supported by specialist officers, and they have requested privacy, as they come to terms with Amaan’s death.
