The Ebola virus is spreading throughout West African countries with around 45,000 Indians living there. Indian health minister Harsh Vardhan believes that there is a possibility of Indians residing there to travel back to India if the situation worsens in the coming days. the minister said in a statement:

“All precautions are being taken by us, while the risk of Ebola virus cases in India is low, preparedness measures are in place to deal with any case of the virus imported to India.”

More than 930 people have died from Ebola in West Africa this year with above 1,700 cases reported in Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone. The disease spreads by direct contact with an infected person’s blood and bodily fluids. Thus far, the only prevention method is to carefully screen all travelers from affected countries, which is currently in motion with designated facilities at relevant airports to deal with travelers showing symptoms of the disease. Symptoms include: fever, headache, vomiting, and bleeding to name a few.
