The Beani Bazar Cancer Hospital (BBCH) is a non- Profit Company registered as a charity and regulated by the Charity Commission for England and Wales. It aims to be one of the leading cancer hospitals in Bangladesh by raising awareness, improving detection, protection of good health and the relief of sickness within Bangladesh as well as caring for cancer patients.

The charity also creates awareness to provide for the erection and maintenance of a fully resourced hospital in the greater area of Beani Bazar, Sylhet, Bangladesh for the purposes of prevention, diagnosis and the treatment of cancer.

It is projected that it will cost £5million to finalise the construction of the full hospital. However, the charity does not intend to wait and start service until the whole building has been completed. They started a while ago. Consequently, they held a charity dinner event this month at Bia Lounge, Golden Hillock Road, Birmingham. It was rather a successful event as it was a full house full of donors, and a large amount was raised by the attendees. On the day, the charity raised £82,000 including pledges and in kind donations to help battle cancer in Bangladesh. This was rather well over their expectations and the event was a huge success.

The event saw the Chairman, Shams Uddin Khan, MP of Solihull, Birmingham, Tommy Miah, in attendance. Additionally, the CEO and Managing Director, Mr M Shab Uddin, and vice chairman, Mr Rouful Islam – key directors of the charity were also present at the event.

The event was held to recognise donors and issue certificates to life members who have donated £1,000 to the charity. Those who donated £1,000 towards the charity became life members, and have names of their choice inscribed on the charity wall of donors for all generations to see. Additionally, they will also receive regular updates on the activities of the charity and participate at the future events.

Mr Manirul Haque of Birmingham – Executive Director and Event Coordinator, Mr Kabir Uddin of Shrewsbury – Executive Director and Mr Nasir Uddin of Smethwick – Director, worked extremely hard to organise and ensure that this event was a success. Their hard work and determination definitely paid off.
