Western Countries are taking a big bite of the halal meat market, as the Muslim market is greater, profitable and under-served and currently estimated in trillions of pounds.
Over 100 million animals were sacrificed for Eid Al Adha alone on 26 October this year.
This amounts to £1.5 billion worth of livestock being slaughtered in one day, making this the most vital day of the year in livestock trade.
The halal market is often alleged as a niche market, its market volume and economic impact certainly indicate that it is not an undersized one. The halal meat market does not exist only on Feast of the Sacrifice, with over 1.5 billion Muslim around the world consuming Halal daily. This market is lucrative all year-round.
Eid Al Adha in the halal world contributes significantly to the world’s livestock trade.
SIAL 2012, the world’s biggest food trade event, which takes place in Paris every two years.
With Many visitors and potential buyers attending food exhibition were left stunned to discover that ENGLISH non stun industry were not represented by EBLEX on their official stand this year.
This meant that they were unable to display or esquire about halal meat slaughter by the prophetic method – true Islamic method of zibihah (non-Stunned)which is the only type of meat slaughtered to be acceptable by the largest Muslim community in Europe {France}
“ANSA (Association of Non Stun Abattoirs) believes either EBLEX was ill advised or has other motives for not promoting the authentic halal method of slaughter at the one the largest exhibition, where over 40% of the companies Exhibiting on EBLEX’s stand, were not able provide their Muslim visitors refreshments or their clients at EBLEX hospitality suite as there was no halal food on the menu”
As the result their counter part from Ireland dominated and stole the show as they proudly promoted halal meat and Beef produced by the true prophetic method of non stun.
As the demand for good halal meat and poultry grows across Europe due intensive marketing by ANSA, It is likely that this niche market will continue to grow because halal products have a reputation for being healthy, hygienic, and humane and of good quality.
