40,000 Sikhs gathered in West Bromwich to celebrate a major religious ceremony.
Dressed in traditional Sikh colours, the participants marched to mark anniversary of the birth of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji travelled thousands of miles to spread the message that everyone is equal, regardless of gender, race, religion, caste or wealth.
The procession, which passed through many streets, was led by a float that contained a collection of Sikh scriptures, known as the Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
Jatinder Singh, a member of the organising committee, said the event was a success and was brought about through hard work from Sandwell Council and West Midlands Police.
The 26-year-old, from West Bromwich, who was aboard the float, said, “There were so many people that at certain points you could not see the end of the procession.
“There was so much colour and vibrancy and many people came out of their homes to greet the procession.”
The procession started at the Guru Har Rai Gurdwara in West Bromwich high street, and travelled through three other Sandwell Gurdwaras before ending at the Guru Nanak Gurdwara in Smethwick high street.
