The heiress to the Hilton hotel empire Paris Hilton caused outrage, upset and controversy on her visit to open her fifth handbag and accessories shop in Saudi Arabia.
She has been accused of insulting the principals of Islam, the backlash exploded on Twitter as she received unprecedented abusive tweets.
After Paris Posted a picture of her new accessories outlet in Saudi Arabia’s holy city of Mecca she triggered a huge backlash of abuse from the insulted Islamic community.
Paris’s uplifting Tweet – “Loving my beautiful new store that just opened at Mecca Mall in Saudi Arabia!”, was quickly counteracted with discontented remarks such as: “Saudi claim these ways are to allow pilgrims to come and worship no non-Muslims allowed, and if religiosity is of such importance, why is Paris Hilton being allowed a store in Mecca?”.
Other tweeters could not understand how a woman with a highly publicised sex tape scandal could even be allowed in Islam’s most holiest city, “How can someone who made such a video open a store in the holy city next to the Grand Mosque?”
Paris oblivious to these comments continued Tweeting “So proud to keep growing my brand!”.
Paris is said to see herself as more of a shrewd businesswoman, with a growing line of products and businesses to her name such as her stores with 17 product lines, her racing team, her 14 fragrances her new project, the Paris Hilton Beach Club chain, then a controversial celebrity, and no amount of backlash or storm will stop Paris from growing her own Hilton empire maybe one day even rivalling her family business.
