Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad denied that his country had atomic bombs, after Tehran was accused of running a nuclear weapon’s programme.
Mr Ahmadinejad said that Iran “does not need nuclear weapons” and warned that the
“regret” any confrontation with his country.
The UN’s atomic watchdog suggested that Iran is developing a nuclear arms capability.
Although Iran will not discard his nuclear activities, they insist that they are not made for weapon’s production, but rather for civilian purposes.
The political leader accused the UN’s International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Yukiya Amano, of working under the US.
“This person does not publish a report about America and its allies’ nuclear arsenals,” he told reporters,
“If America wants to confront the Iranian nation, it will certainly regret the Iranian nation’s response,” IRIB quoted him as saying.
“If you think by pressuring the Iranian nation, you can change the situation in the world, you are very much mistaken.
“They are saying that Iran is seeking the atomic bomb. But they should know… we do not need a bomb. Rather, we will act thoughtfully and with logic.”
However, diplomats have warned that the IAEA report will show evidence that Iran will find difficult to deny.
