Osama bin Laden’s three widows and two of his daughters have been sentenced to 45 days in prison for illegally living in Pakistan.
The women’s lawyer, Mohammed Amir Khalil said that they have been ordered by the Pakistani court to deport when the sentence finishes and will leave later this month.
Bin Laden’s wives and daughters have been detained since the US killed their husband and father on 2nd May, in a large house in the Pakistani town of Abottabad.
The American soldiers left them behind in the house after they left with bin Laden’s body and they have only been given immigration charges last month.
The five women have also been charged with fines of about $110 each, which have already been paid without appeal.
The widows told reporters that they wish to be deported to the same country in order to stay as “one family.”
The wives are suspected of having information about how the terrorist leader avoided being found for nearly 10 years after the 11 September 2001 attacks in New York.
One of his wives, 30-year-old Amal Ahmed Abdel-Fatah al-Sada, told investigators that her husband lived in five houses while being on the run and that two of the four children he fathered during this period were born in Pakistani government hospitals.
Two of bin Laden’s widows are Saudi, while Al-Sada, who has consented to the return, is Yemini.
Al-Sada is said to be thrilled to be coming home to her family, particularly to her brother, who had been campaigning for her release since she was detained.
