The heartthrob, who rose to fame in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, is another famous Buddhist. In 2004, he became a full member of Soka Gakkai Internation, which practices the teachings of Nichiren. His model wife Mirander Kerr is also a Buddhist.

The Queen of Pop was brought up as a Catholic, but switched to the Kabbalah religion in the late 1990s. There is speculation that the religion is a way for the superstar to deal with mega stardom, as it preaches that power can make an individual miserable if they cannot control it.

Born Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr, the famous boxer changed his name after joining the Nation of Islam in 1964, before converting to Sunni Islam in 1975. According to reports, he has recently been practicing Sufism. Other boxers to convert to Islam include Mike Tyson.
