Asian World can confirm that they are delighted to be the official media partners for the BID and will be covering all local events ad highlighting key stories within the local areas, amongst other work.
After successfully winning the big BID for Sparkbrook and Springfield the spearheads of the BID Maz Iqbal and area manager Matt Powell with the local businesses are hoping to transform the local BID area into a mini tourist attraction and safe zone with safety features and car parking top of the agenda.
Maz Iqbal told the Asian World “I am over the moon with the result. Votes came in with a staggering 83% majority for a ‘ YES’ which shows overwhelming support of those that voted in favour of the BID. This has proved to be the biggest and most unique BID in the country by the number and nature of these businesses. We have 980 businesses mostly independent and from very diverse back grounds.
My sincere thanks to steering group who have put in such a tremendous team effort by explaining, communicating and empowering traders. Also a big thankyou to all the businesses that voted and took part and supported us in this struggle.
It was a long and hard journey developing the BID for Sparkbrook and Springfield. The particular way in which respective services have come together and shown they can collaborate, challenge and change working practices has been such an encouraging example for all in these difficult times
BID is the only cost effective way that we can deal with the problems and threats. The issues and opportunities that affect our businesses provide the driving force for this initiative, I am absolutely certain that BID will improve the experience of Sparkbrook and Springfield for traders, consumers and residents alike.
This is an achievable challenge for Sparkbrook and Springfield and it sets us on a clear path which is the only way forward to securing the long term prosperity of the area and businesses.
Last but not least my thanks to Matthew Powell and Birmingham City Council for their commitment which has gone above and beyond Matt’s work responsibilities and job description, demonstrating the added personal and professional commitment to the area and its prosperity. I hope as a result of this dedication by all concerned that this will prove to be a successful thriving road ahead, providing opportunity and improvement for the wider neighbourhood and community.
The real work will start now to achieve the goals and objectives we have set in our proposal and I am sure together we can achieve them with great success.”
The BID has a long road ahead of it but if all the objectives are met it will without any doubt completely transform the Sparkbrook and Springfield. Making it a thriving and successful business district for both leisure and residential.
