A group of enterprising young people decided to bring harmony to Birmingham, after weeks of outrage over the Blasphemous videos of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), they dissented outside the Bullring Shopping Centre, in central Birmingham, and distributed 1,000 red roses to non-Muslims with a message about the Prophet attached to each rose.
Asian World caught up with organisers to ask why they undertook this project.
Why did you do what you did?
Due to the recent attacks on Islam and our Prophet Muhammad Peace be upon Him we BelovedMuhammad.org decided to hold an event in which we would try and give the true message of Islam, which is one of love, peace and harmony. We decided on giving 1000 roses out to non Muslims with a short biography of the Prophet Muhammad Peace be upon Him who is a Mercy for Mankind in Birmingham City Centre on Saturday 13th October 2012. We aimed to show people that just because a minority of Muslims may have given Islam a bad name, but this does not represent us all nor the beliefs of Islam. The whole message of Islam can be summed up in the following phrase by a Muslim Sufi and Scholar Mevlana Rumi: “Love is our mother, and the way of our Prophet Peace be upon Him”
How many people where involved?
30 young British Muslims both males and females took place in this successful event.
What response did you get from recipients on sat?
We received a fantastic response from all. We received countless messages from non-Muslims and Muslims congratulating us and showing their support. Our website, YouTube and Facebook accounts can be seen to see some of the responses we have received.
Did you get any negative responses?
We did NOT receive any negative responses at all.
Will you continue to do this sort of thing?
Yes definitely. We aim to take this all across the UK spreading the message of love and mercy. We look forward to expanding and spreading the true message of Islam.
The peaceful protest bought calm to the city and the youngster’s received a great response.
