Families who have shared their photographs and memories of a special day out are becoming the stars of a new TV campaign for Beaulieu, one of the leading attractions in the south.
Beaulieu’s new campaign There’s nothing like it celebrates the uniqueness of a day out at the attraction, which not only includes the National Motor Museum with its collection of more than 250 vehicles but also Palace House – the Montagu ancestral family home – 13th century Beaulieu Abbey and a bird’s-eye view of the stunning grounds and gardens from the monorail, Beaulieu’s very own skytrain.
Beaulieu wanted to convey the There’s nothing like it message by using visitors’ real experiences of their days out at the attraction. People were invited to share their pictures and videos by Facebook, Instagram and Twitter using #MyBeaulieu. Nearly 500 images were received and 30 favourites were chosen, with the winners receiving an annual family pass.
Joanna Knowles, of Haverstock Road, Bournemouth, is featured with her husband John dressed in the old-fashioned motoring costumes available to try on in the museum and sitting at the wheel of the iconic 1904 Pope-Tribune. She has brought her family to Beaulieu many times and her children’s happy memories with Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will last a lifetime.
Joanna said: “I saw Chitty around the back of the museum and walked round to show the children, so that they could say that they’ve seen it in person. The mechanic working on the car was so kind and brilliant with the children. He talked to them on their level, showing them the mechanics of the car, but then he let them climb up and sit in the front seat. They were delighted! It was such a lovely moment and I won’t forget it, as it made them feel like celebrities and the attention on them was so special. A lovely memory.”
Katie North and Huw Bromage sent pictures of their action-packed day on a visit with Naomi House Children’s Hospice.
Naomi House Children’s Hospice spokesman Keith Wilson said: “The play team loves taking children and young people in our care to visit Beaulieu. The staff are friendly, welcoming, helpful and extremely knowledgeable. The grounds and attractions may be steeped in history but Beaulieu has ensured accessibility and inclusion are a top priority, and we never have any issues making our way around or finding the facilities we need.”
Local visitors from the New Forest, the Isle of Wight, Hampshire, Dorset and Sussex and from as far away as Middlesex, Somerset, Surrey, Kent and Hertfordshire can all be seen in the #Beaulieu campaign on TV from April.
