An 8-year-old girl has died from a single stab wound to the chest, according to a post-mortem examination. Mylee Billingham was found injured in Valley View, Brownhills, near Walsall on the evening and died in the hospital shortly after.
Her father Bill Billingham, 54, has been arrested on suspicion of her murder after undergoing surgery for a reportedly self-inflicted stab wound. He remains in hospital and police have said that he will be interviewed when he is deemed medically fit.
The eight-year-old’s uncle, former SAS sergeant major Mark Billingham, who appears in the Channel 4 show SAS: Who Dares Wins issued a short statement on behalf of the family asking for their privacy to be respected.
Floral tributes, notes and teddy bears are still building outside the property where the incident occurred, and people in the community have been making and wearing pink bows in a display of solidarity following the shock of the little girl’s death. The community have also decided to stage a fundraising day which will be named Mylee’s Day. This day will happen on February 18, from 1 to 5pm at St James Church Hall, Vicarage Road, Brownhills.
