Championing technology to maximise its impact this Ramadan, Charity Right has adopted a ‘tech-first’ and ‘remote-first’ approach. This has significantly reduced overheads, meaning more donated funds can go directly to supporting children in need.

In a landscape where overhead costs often hinder a charity’s ability to boost their impact, Charity Right is leading by example. By embracing a tech-first and remote-first approach, the organisation has significantly reduced its operating expenses, allowing more donated funds to reach those in need. These savings amount to £184,660 annually, the equivalent to an extra 419,681 school meals for children all over the world.

Since 2016, Charity Right have provided almost 60 million meals across 9 countries. By ensuring children have access to regular, nutritious meals, the program helps children stay in school, alleviates the burden on struggling families, and equipes them with the education they need to break the cycle of poverty.

To help reach even more children, Charity Right have moved to a ‘tech-first’ and remote-first’ approach with their cost-saving strategy including:

Going Remote First: Eliminating traditional office expenses such as rent and utilities by adopting a fully remote work model. This allows Charity Right to focus on what matters most, the work. Prioritising staying connected through regular catchups and in-person gatherings when possible. This approach saves the company on average £122,850 per year in rent.

Developing an In-house Fundraising Tool: Building a user-friendly, in-house fundraising platform, including a dedicated Night of Power tool. This eliminates reliance on expensive third-party platforms like Just Giving, resulting in an estimated annual cost savings of £21,250. This investment empowers the organisation to manage donations more efficiently and specifically cater to the increased giving during the final ten nights of Ramadan through advanced scheduling options.

Streamlining Processes: Utilising technology to automate administrative tasks and improve efficiency which has saved over 312 days of man hours saving the company £40,560.

Through these efforts, Charity Right has achieved an impressive cost reduction of £184,660 annually. These savings directly translate into increased support for the children and communities, totalling at 419,681 extra school meals for children all over the world.

Asim Lone, Charity Right’s CEO shares: “Charity overheads can be a major barrier for many organisations, limiting the amount of funding that actually reaches beneficiaries.

We are committed to ensuring that every penny donated makes a tangible difference. By utilising technology and adopting a remote-first work structure, we have achieved significant cost savings, allowing us to redirect more resources towards our mission.”
