Asian World interviewed the former Bollywood actress Veena Malik Khan with her new husband Asad Bashir Khan whilst on a world tour promoting their new ambassadorial roles with the International Human Rights organisation.

Veena describes herself and husband Asad as global citizens with no real permanent home. As they are constantly travelling the world on business and charitable tours, they have a home in Dubai where they were first married; one in Pakistan where they were both born and have families; one in America where they have extended family and now, are looking at buying a new home in London as they travel there so much- to add to their list of international addresses.

The couple have been on a romantic world tour, living the fairy-tale ever since they said ‘I do’ in Dubai last Christmas. Asad told us: “Dubai is our base from where we can then travel easily to any part of the world. It’s a global home in a global city.” To continue their wedding celebrations the couple have taken part in many wedding functions all over the world. They told us they did this as so many people missed the initial wedding, so to include them in their marriage they were more than happy to re-enact their wedding, and said they would keep getting married. Asad said:

“This is a sign of our love; the more we get married the more our love grows.” Veena said their wedding celebrations are still continuing.

Human rights violations and the need to change the life of displaced young people and to help women who have been affected by domestic violence has been something Veena told us she has been involved in for many years and now is jointly working as an ambassador for International Human Rights with her husband Asad who is also a good- will ambassador.

Asad told us: “I am the first Pakistani to hold two titles on this level; my priority is for education, and at the moment my focus is on refugees- to help and support them; our main aim is humanity and peace. This has expanded as we are inundated with offers from organisations who want to work with us right now we have chosen to work with the Red Cross who have approached us, so we want to be able to help everyone.”dcf449c239238199dc3cfaa855a300a4

The couple have moved their charitable side up a notch by launching their own foundation called the Veena & Asad foundation where they hope to build hospitals and schools to help the desperately poor and needy in Pakistan- starting off the project in Asad’s home village.
The new chapter in the colourful life of Veena and Asad is set to take off in many different directions all at the sometime leaving them very little time to enjoy their married life, however they have not ruled out starting a family which they both said is definitely on the cards.
