Adrian Evans was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis at the age of 19 which lead to him needing a liver transplant in 2019. Now, to thank the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for their care, he has jumped 15,000ft to raise money!

Adrian’s ulcerative colitis lead to him being diagnosed with primary sclerosing cholangitis which is where the bile ducts in the liver become damaged, and meant he needed a liver transplant to survive.

To thank the staff and the hospital for their incredible care of him, Adrian decided to take part in a tandem skydive jumping 15,000ft from a plane and raised an amazing £2,721 for the hospital charity.

Talking about his time in hospital for his liver transplant, Adrian said: “The staff are phenomenal, 726 and 727 were absolutely amazing in taking care of me.

“My transplant was actually the third time lucky, I had two calls before my actual transplant but they turned out to be unsuitable livers. My skydive was then the third time lucky too as two were cancelled due to poor weather conditions – it was fate!”

Adrian’s friends and family joined him for the skydive including his daughter Chloe Evans, Lee Williams, Sam Reynolds, Jordan Allen and Graham Garling who all raised a huge amount of money for the Liver Foundation UK!

Roisin Mooney, Events Fundraising Officer at QEHB Charity, said: “A huge thank you goes to Adrian and his family and friends for taking part in a skydive for the hospital charity!

“All of the money raised will go towards providing added extras that go ‘over and above’ for liver patients just like Adrian.”

Adrian made some lifelong friends whilst in hospital and is planning on doing even more fundraising events with them for the hospital charity!
