Rafael Nadal wins Barcelona Open for 10th time

By Ryan Paul

World number 5 Rafael Nadal has claimed his 10th Barcelona open title after beating Dominic Thiem 6-4, 6-1 in the final.

Having won the Barcelona open last year for the ninth time, Nadal was always favourite coming into the tournament, but not many expected it to be as easy as it was. He disposed of Thiem very quickly and with the Nadal having the home advantage, the Spanish spectators certainly got behind him and he made sure he put on a show for them all.

It’s been a competition that Nadal has dominated in recent years and with Wimbledon on the horizon this will give the Spaniard a new found confidence, since his form has dipped in the major tennis tournaments of late.
