Two men are set to appear before court tomorrow (Thursday 15 October) accused of murdering Birmingham teen, Connor Smith.

Hairdresser Marcus Jones, 27, of Gildas Avenue, Kings Norton is charged with murder, and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear.

Unemployed Phillip Baillie, 28, of Fordway Gardens, Hawksley is charged with murder, two counts of possession of a firearm, robbery and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear.

Both will appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court.
Connor, aged 19, died as a result of a gunshot wound to the abdomen following an attack in Forde Way Gardens, Hawkesley last Thursday night (8 October).

Despite the latest developments, detectives continue to investigate the killing.

Detective Inspector Warren Hines said: “We continue to appeal for any witnesses or anyone with knowledge about what happened to come forward in confidence and talk to us as soon as possible.
“My thoughts today remain Connor’s friends and family and I would to thank those who have done the right thing and come forward.”

A 27-year-old man, of no fixed address, who was arrested in Church Lane, Coventry remains in police custody.

A 41-year-old man, from the Stoke area of Coventry, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
Two women aged 22 and 26 from Chelmsley Wood who were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender have also been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
