Two Midlands-based men have been arrested following a bomb threat made against the Birmingham Central Mosque on Facebook.

A 25 year old man was arrested at his home in Rugeley, Staffordshire and after being held in custody, was released on bail until further notice.

Another 20 year old man, from Walsall, was later seized in connection with two separate online threats made against the local temple and another unnamed target.

Although the police believe that this and the threats are not connected, they are treating the matter very seriously.

Members of the public contacted the West Midlands police with regard to the threat on 11th December.

The mosque was searched by officers and specialist search dogs, trained to locate suspicious items, looked for explosives.

The Police said that nothing was found in the building.
