A gunman who shot a businessman and his nephew in an argument over parking eight years ago, has been imprisoned for life.

Mohammed Ayub Khan shot and killed Amarjit Singh, 52 and his 32 year old nephew, Rajinder Singh, shortly after having an argument with the pair over parking in Atherton Mews in East London in August 2003.

He became a fugitive as he fled to Pakistan, with the police launching a murder investigation.

Mr Khan was extradited from Bangladesh in October last year and was told at Woolwich Crown Court that he would serve a minimum of 26 years in jail after being found guilty of murder.

The murder took place at the back of the hotel on 29th August 2003, where Mr Khan blocked the building with his vehicle to attend a nearby mosque.

Unable to drive their hotel van down to the back of the hotel, Mr Amarjit Singh parked across the hotel, blocking Mr Khan’s vehicle in.

After getting involved in an argument with the two victims, Mr Khan left the scene then returned with two other men and began to attack the hotel van.

The victims ran into Atherton Mews to confront the attackers, but Mr Khan then pulled out a Mach 10 machine pistol out of a bag and fired 10 bullets at them.

Mr Amarjit Singh’s daughter was at the scene, but escaped unharmed.
