The roof of a double-decker bus was torn off after it passed under a low railway bridge in Bourneville Lane, Birmingham. The top of the vehicle was completely removed when the bus went through the tunnel.

Photos show extensive damage to the National Express West Midlands Bus, which was out of service at the time.  However, no passengers were on board, and the bus driver was not injured.

The bridge, near Cadbury’s World, displayed warning signs of a 10ft (3m) height limit.

West Midlands paramedic Ben Pallante was called to the scene and claimed that it marked an ‘unusual end’ to his shift.
