Asian World can announce that the intezaar is over and yes we did get the ijazat to interview Pakistani mega star and musical maestro Falak.

Falak Shabir is a Pakistani pop phenomenon; his unique style and singing ability has earned him unprecedented fame in his home country and it’s had a knock on effect in neighbouring countries like India where he is mobbed by frenzied fans when he is in the country. His career took off after the launch of his debut single in 2008 called ‘Rog’.

Falak started off his musical journey by first selling his own T-shirts and guitars under his own name “Falak Shabir”. Since the age of 12, he had a profound interest in music.

Playing his guitar and singing was just a hobby in his life initially, which soon turned into his passion and ultimately his passion became his profession.

Some of his hit songs include – Soniye / Ijazat / Intezaar

Falak, do you love the UK?

I absolutely love the UK, people really appreciate my music and understand it, and through my music they have a strong connection to me.

Where do you think you fan-base is the strongest?

My music is in Punjabi and there are a lot of Punjabi music listeners in the UK and this is a great market for  me as my fan-base is just growing, however as I am from south Asia the following is huge over there.

What is the real story behind Intezaar?

There is no real story as many people believe it is linked to my personal life.

I tend to write most of my songs on other people’s feelings, for example if there was a person sitting in front of me who is sad, I can understand their feelings and this is where my inspiration for songs comes from other people’s emotions.

“I can write really good songs on female feelings as I have that connection with women”

“I have a lot of female friends, but they are not my girlfriends”

Tell us about your huge female following?

I would say most of my fans are female, as I feel I can express their feelings really well through my music and I understand them maybe more than the average man.

Tell us about the real experience behind your songs?

The song Ijazat is based on my own family, where my brother in law works in Dubai and my sister lives in Pakistan, so whenever he used to come to his wife I saw a feeling on her face, her face changed. I saw her face when her husband was not there; the sadness on her face, she didn’t look after herself she just concentrated on her children but as soon as she heard the news that her husband was coming home she use to beautify herself and make sure she looked really good. However I could see she didn’t want him to leave.. Ve jan walia enj chhad ke na javi.. These are the lyrics that came from the experience of my own home.

So do you have a love in your life in Lahore?

No not in Lahore. Not in any city. 110% single and very happy. Not looking to mingle not at the moment.

How did you become Pakistan’s fashion Idol?

Basically I make sure my entire tour wardrobe is new, as people follow their favourite stars, and their fashion, so I make sure my style is always new and fresh as I know people will be following me.

This is my own style not my stylist style. I do my own hair; I even add make-up when I’m filming for a video.

I have been into fashion since I was a child, this is my passion.

“I am God gifted when it comes to my style”

“I have two passions; my style & my music”
