Anil Kapoor’s role in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol is just one example of a Bollywood star getting a break in the top movie Industry. There have been promises of many more Indian stars in big upcoming projects in Hollywood. Let’s just hope they live up to expectations…

Boxing Day saw the release of the fourth Mission Impossible movie, alongside Tom Cruise will beIndia’s very own Anil Kapoor. Talk of actors like Amitabh Bachchan making their big debuts in Hollywood has been going around the industry for many months; let us take a look at a few examples.

Superstar Aishwarya Rai made the transition in 2004 when she took the lead role in Gurinder Chada’s Bride and Prejudice which was well received and earned a healthy amount at Box Office. She later appeared in the unfortunate flop Pink Panther 2 opposite Steve Martin and also in The Mistress of Spices. Rai returned to India soon after the release of the Pink Panther film and since then has only worked in Bollywood.

Amitabh Bachchan is due to make his debut in Hollywoodin Director Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby, due for release in 2012 in the role of Meyer Wolfsheim, alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and a few other big names. Without a doubt the acting legend will do a fantastic job and here’s hoping that the appearance in Hollywood films continues. Allegedly Bachchan has been offered roles before in Hollywood but subsequently turned them down to focus on his work in India, now that the superstar is finally getting his break, fans will be excited to see his portrayal in hotly anticipated film.

Another actor due to make further appearances in Hollywood is Irfan Khan. The actor has been previously seen in Slumdog Millionaire and New York; I love you opposite Natalie Portman. Khan has been given a role as the villain, Van Adder, in the new Spiderman reboot The Amazing Spiderman. The film will be released in July of 2012 and looks to be quite promising.

Rumors have constantly been surrounding some of India’s biggest stars about making the transition to Hollywood, including Shah Rukh Khan, Amir Khan, Bipsha Basu and Rani Mukherjee. Where some projects have failed, others have succeeded, here’s hoping that the upcoming work of Bollywood stars in Hollywood will be something to remember.
