Michelin UK HQ, 29 May 2017 – The Michelin Supercar Paddock is back for the sixth year running in 2017 at the world famous Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Bigger and better than ever, and with a refreshed live format, the Michelin Supercar Paddock 2017 is set to be the busiest and most eventful to date.

For the first time, a second live area is introduced at the “Hill Climb Holding Zone” – the exit to the Michelin Supercar Paddock. Presenters will conduct live commentary from the area where cars and drivers line up ahead of the famous Goodwood hill climb event. Here, they will take a closer look at cars with the huge gathered crowds, as the supercar entries rev engines and warm up tyres ahead of the spirited drive up the hill.

For the second year, Michelin will present the Supercar Paddock Showstopper Trophy each day on the live stage, following scrutiny by a specialist panel of well-known judges, supported by a public vote online. Each day will see the ‘Showstopper of the Day’ winner presented, with the grand final Michelin Supercar ‘Showstopper of the Festival’ presented as the Sunday afternoon climax at the paddock – last year’s trophy was presented to the Aston Martin Vulcan. See www.facebook.com/MichelinUK for more details.

This year’s Batch 6 Michelin Supercar Run is made up of some 50 supercars in the main paddock, with a special class added – ‘Racecars for the Road’, for the growing sector of high octane, road-legal track day supercars. Supporting the supercars will be the unique ‘First Glance’ class of some 20 further models making a debut or special prototype appearance at the Festival for the first time.

Hosting the live action in the Michelin Supercar Paddock will be TV racing pundit and multiple BTCC champion, Tim Harvey, with writer, broadcaster and the only British woman to have won an International Sportscar race, Amanda Stretton. An exciting line-up of motor sport greats, YouTube stars, celebrities and industry leaders is sure to keep the crowds entertained.

Tim Harvey said: “The Michelin Supercar Paddock is one of the most popular attractions at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. It gets bigger every year, and a number of car manufacturers are lined up to make special product debuts and announcements on our live stage. These reveals, coupled with numerous special guest appearances, and a few surprises on top make for a really thrilling and action-packed arena in the Michelin Supercar Paddock. I can’t wait for the fun to begin on Thursday, 29 June.”

Further details of product debuts and special appearances will be confirmed in future announcements, with many Festival favourites already lined up for some very special presentations at the 2017 Michelin Supercar Paddock.
