A care worker will appear in court this morning accused of attempted murder after several staff and residents of a West Bromwich extra care unit were taken ill.
Melissa Swift will appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court to answer the charge, along with a further charge of threats to kill.
The 23-year-old of Hamblets Road, West Bromwich was arrested on 4 August after police were informed that several people at Goldfield Court in West Bromwich had been taken ill with food poisoning type symptoms, including severe headaches, intense nausea and diarrhoea, with several requiring hospital treatment.
All those taken ill have made a good recovery and there have been no further cases reported since the launch of the police investigation.
Swift was later admitted to a secure unit for psychiatric assessment before being returned to custody this week for further questioning.
She was charged with last night (4 September) and will appear in court this morning.
