Ladywood MP Shabana Mahmood and celebrity chef Glynn Purnell have joined forces to support the market on the Pershore Streetsite, which are under threat to close.
Glynn Purnell welcomed the Labour MP to his city centre restaurant, The Asquith.
The politician, who had supported the market with traders and the Birmingham Mail, handed out petitions and stickers at theNewhall Street restaurant and other food outlets in the city.
The market has been planned for demolition after a relocation deal with Birmingham Citycouncil and the now defunct Advantage West Midlands fell apart.
Council authorities have offered help in finding a new site and private investors for the market, but have refused to provide financial aid.
Ms Mahmood, who joined the campaign last month, is determined to see the market survive.
