Detectives inBirminghamcontinue to interview a 37-year-old man in connection with the murder of Carole and Avtar Kolar in Handsworth Wood,Birmingham.

The man was arrested just after 1pm on 16 January inBirmingham.

Carole and Avtar Kolar were found dead at their home inFriary Road, Handsworth Wood on 11 January. Forensic post mortems subsequently revealed that both had died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head. Both had been struck a number of times.

Specialist forensic investigators remain at the address carrying out thorough examinations and detectives and local neighbourhood officers continue to conduct local enquiries.

Det Chief Supt Steve Jupp, who heads Force CID, said, “Birminghamis rightly proud of its’ diverse community. Those communities can help us find out who has done this by coming forward with information at this crucial time.

“We are extremely encouraged by the response so far and the information being passed on to us.

“Please remember all information is treated in the strictest of confidence.

“We would encourage anyone who may know something but has not yet come forward to speak to us call the operation Tiler incident room on 101. Alternatively information can be given to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

A reward of up to £10,000 has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.”

The family continue to be supported by dedicated family liaison officers and are being informed of the investigation’s progress at every stage.

Two people were arrested over the weekend. One man has been bailed pending further enquiries; the second man was released without charge.
