Padmavati, the historical drama by acclaimed Indian director and writer Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and starring Shahid Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh has tackled numerous controversies. However, the controversies seem to have settled down. Rumours suggest that the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) will pass the film certificate.
Padmavati will be released in 2018. The major controversy regarding the film was whether the historical drama was a work of fiction. There were accusations that the film distorted historical facts and that in turn, might hurt the sentiments of certain groups. Reports suggest that the film may release on or before 12 February 2018.
