Celebrated humanitarian Abdul Sattar Edhi declined the offer of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to donate 10 million Indian rupees to his charity.

“Abdul Sattar Edhi has thanked Mr Modi and politely declined to accept his announced financial help,” Edhi Foundation Spokesman Anwar Kazmi said.

Kazmi said Mr Edhi’s son, Faisal Edhi, will be addressing a press conference in this regard at 4:30pm at Karachi Press Club.
Modi announced the contribution to the charity after the return of hearing and speech impaired girl Geeta to India.

“What the Edhi family has done is too priceless to be measured but I am happy to announce a contribution of Rs10 million for their foundation,” Modi tweeted.

An attempted attack on BNP chief
An attack has been attempted on the car carrying BNP chief Khaleda Zia and son Tarique Rahman in London, a source says.

A source, who declined to be named, told bdnews24.com by telephone it all happened at Harley Street near Marylebone Road in west London at around 6:30pm. The map shows the place is very close to the city’s Regent’s Park tube station.

The source said Tarique’s wife Zobaida Rahman was also travelling with them in the car during the bid.

But the party’s UK chapter has denied any such incident having taken place.

The source also claimed the unit’s Secretary General Koysor Ahmed was also with Khaleda.

A video footage of the purported incident is available with bdnews24.com. There, several people are seen active near a parked car. The car then leaves the place in a hurry and those people can be seen at the time.

But whether that place was in Harley Street is not clear in the video. A woman’s voice can be heard in the footage, which the source claims to be of Khaleda.
