A mosque in northernIsrael was torched and sprayed with graffiti, suspected to be carried out by Jewish extremists.

A protest against the attack followed in the village of Tuba-Zangariya by hundred of residents, with some clashing with the police.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said he was “outraged” by the chaos.

Police reportedly said the attacks appeared to be caused by Jewish settlers.

The words “Revenge”, “Price Tag” and “Palmer” were written in Hebrew across the mosque walls.

“The whole mosque was burnt – the carpet, the books, the Korans, all burnt,” the village imam, Fuad Zangariya, told Israel’s Army Radio.

These violent incidents are known as “Price Tag” attacks, which are carried out as a reaction against any policy that aims to reduce the number of Jewish settlers and settlements on Palestinian land in the West Bank andEast Jerusalem.

The number of settlers and settlements are said to have increased in recent months.

Police told the BBC that they have arrested some suspects in connection to the attacks earlier this month.
