The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) today confirmed that the Worcestershire pace bowler Jack Shantry has received a penalty under the ECB’s Directives.

Shantry was reported by umpires Peter Willey and Mike Burns during Worcestershire’s LV= County Championship match against Gloucestershire on August 15 – 18, 2014 for a Level 1 breach of the code (using language that is obscene, offensive or insulting and/or making an obscene gesture).

Shantry had previously received three penalty points following a Level 2 breach in August 2012. The penalty for a subsequent breach at Level 1 within 24 months is three penalty points. This penalty will remain on his record for a period of two years and the accumulation of nine or more penalty points in any two year period will result in an automatic suspension.
