ungli-wallpaper-03-12x9The month after Diwali in the film industry is one which is full of trepidation and expectations, trepidation to live up to the bonanza of Diwali releases, and expectation that of a follow up of the festive season, the momentum would be in the favour of films at the box office. Well, the films releasing this month would have the challenge to live up to, as they would have a HAPPY NEW YEAR released on the eve of Diwali to compete with. So here is the list of important films that would be trying to catch the eyeballs at the box office:
1. KILL DIL: Ranvir Singh returns back to Yash Raj films as a solo hero after he made his debut with the same banner with BAND BAAJA BAARAT and it also is a new offering from Shad Ali-who directs the film and has been a regular with the YSR films. Parineeti Chopra is the leading lady and KILL DIL also has Govinda in an interesting cameo and the highlight of the film would be a dance number that would remind viewers of why Govinda was a dancing sensation. It would be interesting to watch out whether Govinda would get a second resurrection in his acting career that he has been trying for quite a long time? Ali Zafar also plays an interesting cameo in KILL DILL.

2. SHAUKEENS: Akshay Kumar starrer SHAUKEENS is another release for the current month directed by Abhishek Sharma and has been produced by Ashwani Varde and Murad Khetani. SHAUKEENS also stars Lisa Hayden, Anupam Kher, Anu Kapoor and Paresh Rawal. Akshay Kumar has shown amazing chemistry in the past acting with Anupam Kher and Paresh Rawal, especially when it is a comedy and producers would hope that the magic of the past would rub on this offering as well. It would be interesting to watch out whether the magic that has been on offer- the last decade or so- would continue to hold its sway, as it has a new addition in the form of Anu Kapoor who is also credited with amazing sense of comic timing.

3. HAPPY ENDING: Saif Ali Khan comes up with a solo performance and this film has been produced by his banner Illuminati Films and has been directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK- perhaps for the first time in a recent memory where two directors have directed a film. HAPPY ENDING has another endearing feature that it marks the return of Priety Zinta to mainstream acting, as she stars opposite her co-star of a decade ago Saif Ali Khan with whom she had given a super duper hit SALAAM NAMASTE. It is a feature worth noting in context of Hindi cinema as it has never happened earlier where a female actress in her early or late thirties is given another opportunity to star opposite a co-star with whom she had acted a decade ago. Normally an actress in Hindi cinema as a matter of convention when they act opposite the male stars who was their leading man a decade ago, either in the form of a bhabhi or a sister. For this sheer fact, Saif Ali Khan needs to be complemented for the audacious act that he has enacted, both as an actor and as a producer. However, it would be interesting to watch whether Preity Zinta gets to enact the main female role in the film as it also stars Ileana D Cruz and Kanchi Koelin and yes, this month would see a second film for Govinda as well, as he is also a main actor in the film.

4. UNGLI: The month of November 2014 would sign off with UNGLI produced by Karan Johar and directed by Rensil D Souza and stars Emraan Hashmi and Kangana Ranaut and also stars Sanjay Dutt and Randeep Hooda as well. For the fans of Sanjay Dutt it would be a real taste as he has been out of action for quite a long time, and it would be interesting to watch whether the fans still have fond memories for him or not?
