Jobs for Tower Hamlets is a new voluntary community led initiative which aims to tackle unemployment in Tower Hamlets. It is a simple campaign that aims to encourage local businesses to invest in local people, to connect local people with opportunities, and to focus the community on a common goal to get Tower Hamlets working.

The initiative aims to encourage the creation of 1,000 new jobs for people in Tower Hamlets by September 2015 and to provide employment and training opportunities for people in the borough. We also aim to provide skills, support and guidance for those local people who want to start their own business.

This initiative, which is being led by the London Muslim Centre (1) in partnership with Faith Regen Foundation (2), hopes to bring together the numerous private and public organisations and initiatives working to tackle unemployment in the borough. We hope that through a unified effort we can give local people the job opportunities and training they deserve to lead financially independent lives.

The launch will take place at the London Muslim Centre, 82-92 Whitechapel Road, London E1 1JQ on Thursday 5th September at 16:00. Confirmed speakers at the event are the Shadow Minister of State for Employment Stephen Timms, the Tower Hamlets Council Cabinet Member for Jobs and Skills Shafiqul Haque, and the District Operations Manager for Job Centre Plus, Jashoda Pindoria. Also speaking at the event will be representatives from CDG and A4e.

For more information about the initiative please email FRF’s Head of Business Development Oussama Mezoui at oussama@thefrf.org or call 020 82119430.
