Week Highlights to be broadcast on Zee TV, Out and About

The London School of Economics’ S.P.I.C.E (Society for the Promotion of Indian Culture and Ethos) brought to the UK the world’s largest India-centric campus event from 20th-26th February 2012.
As the only event of its kind, the LSE India Week 2012 is a reflection of everything that makes India unique on a global scale, mirrored through a series of events showcasing the intricate facets of Indian culture. This was one week dedicated to making the world more knowledgeable about this beautiful nation of over one billion people.
Bollywood legend Rishi Kapoor inaugurated the week-long activities with a discussion on the Changing Landscape of Bollywood. From Economics to Cinema, from Tradition to Food – the event featured an array of features including a discussion panel giving the audience an understanding of the Indian economy in the current global economic climate. Virad Kaul, Territory Head UK & Europe, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd was one of the panelists alongside other prominent members including Lord Karan Bilimoria (CBE, DL, Founder & Chairman, Cobra Beer), Mr Rahul Sharma (Co-Founder and Executive Director, Micromax Informatics India), Ms Madhur Jha (Global Economist, HSBC) and senior economists from LSE. Other events during the week focused on more specialised and academic topics such as Microfinance in India, Corruption & the Lok Pal Bill, Female Entrepreneurship and Philanthropy in India with distinguished speakers such as Shiv Nadar, Chairman, HCL Technologies among many others. The week ended with a Desi Showdown Bollywood night with performances by Arjun and students from the college. The real finale came in the form of a talk by Cricketing legends Mushtaq Mohammed and Ajay Jadeja at the Lords Cricket Ground followed by a cricket match between LSE’s India and Pakistan Cricket teams at the famous ground. A huge delight came in the form of the inception of the Mohammed-Jadeja trophy by the renowned cricketers who were particularly impressed by the spirit of the student body.
