Bollywood star Dev Anand turned 88 last Monday and the acclaimed actor-filmmaker is in no hurry to slow down, as he looks forward to a bright and prosperous future.

From humble beginnings at the military censor office in Mumbai, Annan has starred in over 100 feature films, been at the helm of many major Indian releases and received a host of accolades, both international and at home. Bashful about his accomplishments he said ‘A lot of eminent people think my birthday is worth celebrating’.

One might think such an achievement worthy of a comfortable retirement, but not so for Dev Anand. After completing Chargesheet he will commence pre-production on a sequel to his landmark film Hare Rama Hare Krishna, and there is no suggestion that he might stop there.

Despite the relatively limited success of his recent fare Anand shows a genuine spirit and drive that is commendable, not merely for a man of his age, but for a man of his experience and flair. Asked what he might wish for on the day of his birth, he retorted ‘I don’t make wishes. I make them come true.’
