dilshad_sheikhThe Chartered Management Institute (CMI) has named Dilshad Sheikh the dean of the business school at University College Birmingham (UCB), as the new chair of its West Midlands board.

She has been appointed for a two-year term, and said: “Given that I have grown up in the West Midlands region, lived here for over 40 years, studied here and now hold a strategic leadership position as dean of a business school located right at the heart of the region, I am very much looking forward to making a positive contribution with measurable impacts to the region.

“My core values of employer engagement, student engagement, professional qualifications development and my interests in the ever increasing need for a more diverse management and leadership team across all sectors, very much reflect the corporate values and strategic priorities of the CMI. It is a privilege to have been given the opportunity to chair and lead the CMI regional board.”

CMI is the chartered professional body for management and leadership, dedicated to improving managers’ skills and growing the number of qualified managers.

The regional board delivers practical support to members in the West Midlands and by working with organisations like universities, colleges and other professional bodies to promote the value of professional management skills.

Dilshad recently became a companion of the CMI, the highest level of the organisation’s membership.

She is also a member of the professional development committee at UCB.
