A care worker has appeared in court accused of attempted murder after several staff and residents of a West Bromwich extra care unit were taken ill.
Melissa Swift appeared before Warley Magistrates Court this morning (5 September) to answer the charge, along with a further charge of threats to kill.
The 23-year-old of Hambletts Road, West Bromwich was arrested on 4 August after police were informed that several people at Goldfield Court in West Bromwich had been taken ill with food poisoning type symptoms, including severe headaches, intense nausea and diarrhoea, with several requiring hospital treatment.
She was charged last night (4 September) and appeared in court this morning, where she was remanded in custody until a committal hearing at Birmingham Crown Court on 17 September.
