Asian World spoke to the singer of hit song ‘Kurian Lahore Diyan’ and many others Abrar Ul Haq during his latest visit to the UK. Abrar told us he is going to take up politics and stand to be elected in Pakistan for Imran Khan’s PTI party, he said
“it’s important to try and make change for the better, I have a voice that many listen to and have a strong following this will help me in my political career.”
He went on to say he has great passion for politics and hopes to be part of a better more progressive Pakistan. This seems to be the new chapter in this singing stars life, if it will replace his current stage presence from dancing and singing to speech making is something that only time can predict.
You’re very much in demand in the UK, what’s the secret to your success?
Thank you so much for this compliment but there’s no secret bar the relationship that I have with the fans in the UK. It’s not just an artist/audience relationship, it’s more than that – They support my philanthropy projects by donating to them. They respect me and I love them for it in return.
You’ve been in show business now for the past 18 years; do you ever get tired of touring?
No , no no I love touring the UK, wherever I go in the world I always mention that the best concerts I do are in the UK. They have the most prestigious venues where I always get good responses from the crowd.
Do your songs come from personal experiences or life experiences?
No, the majority of them are fantasies, not life experiences
What’s your favourite song that you love to perform all of the time?
I have a few, but it depends on the venue, for example, if the audience is more smaller, it’s nice to sing slow, spiritual songs , in large venues I like to sing more upbeat songs.
