The father of a five year old girl, who was kidnapped two years ago, has been imprisoned for refusing to reveal her whereabouts.
Atiya Anjun Wilkinson was taken during a trip to the seaside by her father, who admitted to sending her abroad.
The father, Razwan Ali Anjum, has been jailed for refusing to disclose where his daughter is.
Mother Gemma Wilkinson, from Ashton-under Lyne in Greater Manchester, said that the mystery had been agonising for her.
“With the lack of information, you just imagine the worst. I’ve no contact with her,” she told reporters.
Atiya’s parents met in 2003 at the Oldham Business Management School, where they were studying the same course.
Despite their relationship being an unstable one, Ms Wilkinson fell pregnant.
Initially uninterested in their daughter, Mr Anjum eventually asked to see her and charity worker Ms Wilkinson soon gave in and allowed her former lover access.
However, on the youngster’s third birthday, Mr Anjum took her to the seaside and later phoned the mother to tell her that the girl was now in Pakistan and she would never see her again.
