A baby boy, who was born with six legs because of a rare genetic condition, is left fighting for his life as doctors in Pakistan try to help him survive.

The baby, born to the wife of an X-ray technician, is one of two babies affected by the condition.

“It is not one baby actually. They are two, one of them is premature,” the director of National Institute of the Child Health in Karachi, said.

The extra limbs are caused by a genetic disease that only affect one in a million babies, said a doctor at the National Institute of the Child Health in Karachi.

“The doctors are examining the infant to plan for necessary treatment to save the baby’s life and ensure he lives a normal life,” said a statement from the provincial health department.

Father Imran Shaikh, who lives in Sukkur, said that he was “thankful to the government for helping us treating my baby.”
