Many football experts and legends believe that the 2017 u17 FIFA world cup will be a game changer for Indian football. The tournament has been a big talking point in the game and it’s a huge opportunity for India to make their mark on the footballing world.
Former Brazil Captain Lucio says; ‘it’s a big opportunity for India to make a global mark in football, they have some of the best young players yet to land on their shores and this tournament is bound to help the development of the sport in their country’. Having won the world cup himself Lucio knows all about the pressure of such an occasion and what it takes to really make a name for yourself as young prodigy, as he added; ‘India could be getting a firsthand look at some of the best young talent and biggest footballing names in years to come, so it’s important that the Indian u17’s rise to the challenge’.
Having played in the I-League himself for FC Goa, Lucio knows the talent that India possess and because the India seniors have never qualified for a world cup tournament the u17’s already have a head start on their peers. While the youngster will get the experience on playing on a huge stage, the Indian FA needs to ensure that the seniors can reach the same heights.
Lucio has already won a world cup with Brazil and has acknowledged the immense performances from the Brazilian u17’s, who have won the u17 world cup three times in the past. Lucio gave his opinion on Brazil’s youngsters saying; ‘Brazil have a good team and they will be tested in the tournament against some of the world’s best youngsters’.
