ISL and the I-League

Indian football could see a huge league merger for the 2018-19 season if plans go ahead for the ISL and the I-League to merge together. Currently the I-League is the top flight league in India; however, they have been in the ISL’s shadow since their introduction in 2014. Despite this, FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation have a lot to discuss if the plans are to get the green light and many feel that a merger of the two leagues will be best for the future of Indian football. The All Indian Football Association; Praful Patel had this to say; ‘We are working towards establishing a new road map for Indian football and the format we decide to work on.’
