Team India has vowed they will not compete against Pakistan in any given bilateral series matches unless they receive a written apology from the Pakistani Hockey federation. The team feel they are due an apology because of the unprofessional manner, in which their players were treated in a previous champion’s trophy tournament.
Despite reaching the semis of the champion’s trophy they were defeated by Pakistan and crashed out of the tournament, but to their disgust the Pakistani players then taunted them and were very sore in victory. The Pakistani players proceeded to take their shirts off and make insulting gestures and the Indian players and crowd.
The Pakistan Hockey team missed out on the world cup due to late visa applications and not because of their actions in the champion’s trophy.
