The NHL has reached out to local communities in Canada, especially those of the Punjabi persuasion and has grown in popularity forcing a Punjabi version of Hockey night in Canada. Simply titled ‘Hockey Night in Punjabi’ it has a panel of enthusiastic hosts with Paraminder and Harnarayan Singh presenting the show. Furthermore due to the sports growth around Canada, the show is mostly viewed and played in the cities of Toronto and Vancouver, whom actually have the biggest Punjabi communities in the country.
Along with English, French and Mandarin, Punjabi is the fourth most spoken language in Canada which gives HNIP a huge advantage as this has allowed them to connect with a much wider audience, with clips of last season’s play-offs going viral Hockey Night In Punjabi is continually growing in participation as well as popularity.
