Asian Cricketing body turn down complaints from Bangladesh over Pakistan’s win.
The Asian Cricketing Council rejected a complaint from Bangladesh that one of their batsmen was blocked by a Pakistani bowler during the recent Asia Cup final.
The body rejected the complaint on the grounds that the move was not reported by on-field umpires, an official said.
Bangladesh appealed to the ACC to examine the final over that they lost, accusing Pakistani peaceman Aizaz Cheema of purposefully obstructing batsman Mahmudullah Riyad from taking a second run.
Ashraful Huq, chief executive of the sporting body, said, “We had received Bangladesh’s complaint but since the incident was not reported by the on-field umpires nothing can be done,” Ashraful said from Kuala Lumpur.
Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by two runs and won the four-nation Asia Cup.
Bangladesh also issues the complaint to the International Cricket Council (ICC), who also turned it down.
“It could have happened then and there, in the final but since umpires and match-referee did not take any action then, so the matter is closed,” added Ashraful.
