England’s star man Ben Stokes was bought at the IPL auction for £1.7 million, making him the most expensive foreign player in IPL history. It was Rising Pune Supergiants who cashed in on Stokes and not only is he the most expensive player but he will receive the highest salary as well.
However the most expensive IPL player is Yuvraj Singh, who was snapped up for £1.9 million by the Delhi Daredevils back in 2015. Along with his high paid salary Stokes has also been named England’s Test vice-captain and will be looking to make a good impression in the IPL and in his new role for the barmy army.
Despite his new role for the England squad, it has not always been easy for Stokes regarding his place in the England team. Back in 2014 Stokes was struggling to get into the squad and even though his form picked up later on that year it was not enough to book his place in the 2015 England World Cup squad.
This statement will surely boost the England talisman’s confidence and he’ll look to kick on in both his new roles.
