Santosh Kapal, 67, of Pembroke Close, Seven Kings, paid tribute to Seema Jaya Sharma, 38, after her daughter’s final Facebook post, which was written to be posted after she died, went viral and sparked global interest in her story.
Santosh said Seema, who had thousands of followers online, was “so strong” before her death, despite being bed-bound for weeks.
“She never moaned about it,” said Santosh. “She just used to tell me she loved me and that she was happy – she accepted what was happening.
“Anyone else in her position would make a fuss but she didn’t. To see your child like that is so sad – I just felt sorry for her.
“We’re never going to recover – she’s my only child and she was so precious to me.”
Santosh added: “She was so strong and she made me and her children strong too – she was so amazing, she was my baby.
“All she wanted was for everyone to celebrate her life and not to mourn for her.”
Seema’s daughter Shanti, eight, said: “She always wanted us to be happy and not cry about her death. I’ve not cried at all.”
The legacy of Seema is to live on through poetry and music, according to her mum.
Santosh said she is in the process of having a book of poems written by her daughter published in her memory.
