West Midlands Association of Muslim Police (WMAMP) is set to honour officers and community members who have gone above and beyond to improve the lives of local people.

Young people, business leaders, officers and community groups are set to have their hard work and dedication to public service showcased at a glittering awards ceremony in December.

The Police and Community Awards – funded by local businesses and generous individuals – are open to Muslim and non-Muslim people.

Inspector Mustafa Mohammed, chair of the association, said: “The event is designed to honour the achievements of Muslim police officers, police staff and community members in making the county socially cohesive and recognise those ‘unsung’ heroes who are dedicated to the service of others.

“These are individuals whose dedication, interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and sheer hard work have enabled them to excel in their service delivery enhancing the lives of the communities of the West Midlands area.

“Nominations can be made by anyone with the winners announced at a special ceremony later in the year.

“Key groups and individuals are already lining up to be involved with the event which will be a unique celebration for the diverse communities of West Midlands area.

“I would encourage anyone who wishes to recognise those individuals who a have gone above and beyond in making the West Midlands such a great place to live, work and visit.”

The awards open for nominations are split into two categories
