Two shop workers suffered a terrible ordeal when machete wielding raiders burst into aBradfordjewellers and stole up to £100,000 worth of gold.

Assistants Ehtsham Dar and his 35 year old nephew Sohaib were closing up the shop when the four masked men drove a 4×4 into the back of Kesser Jewellers inOak Lane, Manningham.

The gang drove the vehicle into a low wall and into a metal security grille, before smashing through a back door to enter the shop.

Mr Dar, 52, told the Telegraph and Argus, “They were wearing balaclavas and they came in an said ‘don’t move, don’t move’ and started shouting.

“I jumped out from behind the counter and got out of the shop and my nephew came with me.”

One of the raiders used his machete to smash through the glass counter, while another accomplice began to full garden waste bags with gold.

The other two men took jewellery from the safe.

The gang then escaped in the 4×4, with four bags of gold that police believe is worth between £50,000 and £100,000.

Zabair Akram, the owner of Kesser jewellers, which has another branch inWhite Abbey Road, Bradford, was unable to comment.
