Medical student mugged when posting leaflets for the Labour party
A student had £500 stolen from her by muggers when she was out delivering leaflets inBirmingham.
Kochar Walladbegi, who is studying for a PhD in medical research atCoventryUniversity, was beaten and had her bag snatched on Ladywood Middleway.
The young student was walking to her Ladywood home after delivering leaflets for the Labour Party in Edgbaston as a Kurdish translator.
She was listening to music on her earphones when she was grabbed from behind.
“There were two men, their hoods were up and they punched me, pushed me to the ground, kicked me and grabbed my handbag and ran off,” she told reporters.
Miss Walladbegi was left bruised and in shock, after she had her bag stolen from her, which contained £500 cash including her month’s rent money.
A police spokesman said: “We are collecting and studying CCTV footage in the area to identify the two men.”
